In process shot of my Alice in Wonderland book binding. Seven sections were saddle stitched and then glued to the book cloth. Then they were glued into the hardcover which was made from book cloth and book board. The whole thing took me about five hours but I am very happy with the results.

Love how the hardcover binding came out. I learned a lot from the process and can definitely do it better next time I bind a book.

Really hope I have time to go to this.
My critique is the day after though so I really have to try to get everything done before it.

Here’s the book I was mentioning in an earlier post. This was an assignment in my typography class to express Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland through typography. I wanted to represent characters in the story and highlight Alice’s thought in the book. I also represented her size shifts and her frustrations and confusion because of that.
This is just a mockup and practice with coptic binding.
The final version will be bound in hard cover but I wanted a printed version to make corrections to before I bind it with my book board and book cloth.
Expect that to be done sometime this week.
